Back To School

For Our Children

Here in our area, the local schools are just gearing up for the new school year. Such an exciting time! One thing I always think of at the start of the school year is how new teachers, new schedules and new classmates give you many wonderful opportunities to talk to someone new about being saved and what God has done for you.

Maybe you are going to a new school or even just a new building. Maybe you are feeling a bit afraid of how hard your classes may be or of what your new teachers will be like. Deuteronomy 1:17 says, “Ye shall not be afraid of the face of man…”, but rather we should do as Deuteronomy 31:6 says, and “Be strong and of a good courage…” as we start the new year.

God will help you be successful each school year. His Word gives us good instructions for being a godly student that earns the respect of his or her teachers and classmates and builds up a good witness.

Be ready to learn! Proverbs 1:5, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning….”

Be a good listener!  Proverbs 22:17, “Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.”

Be friendly! Proverbs 18:24, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly….”

Be kind! Ephesians 4:32, “And be ye kind one to another….”

Do your best! Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might….”

Resist peer pressure! Exodus 23:2, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil….”

Be ready with an answer! 1 Peter 3:15, “…and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asked you a reason of the hope that is in you….”

Do not forget to pray for your school day, asking for God’s help. Put a smile on your face, and be ready to share your love for God with those around you.
